ISAN returns with more bucolic techno on GLOW IN THE DARK SAFARI SET, but this time, they have some additional tricks up their sleeve. The tape decay sounds on "Channel Ten," for example, hint that they're playing with sonic qualities. And while they've always excelled at shorter tracks, this is the first that I've seen their tracks lasting over 7 minutes. "Merman Sound" shifts tempos halfway in, offering an alternative feel for their tinkly electronics, while "64 Fire Damage" delves into a blissful atmosphere, though it switches into almost a new track 2/3rds of the way in. They keep "The Axle" mysterious and cosmic, while "Greencracked" go for a more abrasive tone. But it's the more melancholy melodies of "Dapperling" and the tenderness on "East Side V34" that stand out the most.
